Guiding Service

My guiding services are now available to assist fly fishermen on both game and coarse rivers. I'd be happy to advise and arrange your special day anywhere from one of Derbyshires finest trout and grayling rivers to your own local coarse river. Email Mick Martin for details and options. Earlybirds - Something Out Of Nothing

After checking the weather lastnight I rang my guest for today to suggest an early start which he happily agreed to for a better chance. On arrival we set up and got stuck in knowing the rain Gods clock was ticking so we jumped sections of river fishing the more productive pools to hopefully swing the odds in my guests favor a little. We were lucky enough for the pereguins to put on a show from the top of the ridge today which is always a real bonus in anyones book, truly fascinating vocal birds to observe. After a quick lesson in bum shuffling, tree leaning and kneeling he began to get some sport. With nothing hatching we aimed at scum lanes and features most likey to attract fish, which worked a treat bringing a few nice wild brownies to my guests happy hands.

The rain eventually started to come leaving us running for the hills, well a hollow tree up the ridge which proved great for a shelter and kelly stand while also providing an excellent viewpoint while having our lunch.

We sheltered for a good while praying for a break in the weather before building the courage to fish our way back upstream and before long, after a tussle and half, my guest was completely made up with this awsome brown below, who wouldn't be, and caught on the dry in the pouring rain by a river novice - luvvly jubbly.
