Guiding Service

My guiding services are now available to assist fly fishermen on both game and coarse rivers. I'd be happy to advise and arrange your special day anywhere from one of Derbyshires finest trout and grayling rivers to your own local coarse river. Email Mick Martin for details and options. Dovedale

Fished dovedale afternoon until evening and her Majesty was in fine fettle with large and medium olives, hawthorns even the odd cranefly filling the air. Fish were rising in all the likely places and me and our kid landed several trout before reaching the stepping stones.
Joe public faded away around 4pm and left us to concentrate on the fishing which was superb surface action for this time of year - dry fly galore.

Successful flies were Larry's Pride, Para olives and Klinkhammers and more fish taken in slack waters rather than the faster runs as we made our way up to the boardwalks before turning back. On our return we spotted Glen Pointen off the forums and all stopped to swap info and flies and as I enjoy this chaps company, I decided to badger him offering advice he didn't need, while he demonstrated how to catch a few on my flies - the swine. Joking aside this being Glens first time out at Dovedale it was paramount that he filled his boots, and he did. Below are a few pics showing some of the fish caught today in all shapes and sizes, all gratefully received and delicately returned.
